baking soda
Adding 1/2 cup of baking soda to laundry can boost your detergents cleaning abilities, and sponges soaked in baking soda and hot water sill stay fresher longer. Diluting 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda for every cup of water also make a gentle, natural rinse for fruits and veggies
❦salt
Soap is out of the question for cast iron, but a little salt will give it a deep clean. Simply heat a bit pf oil over medium heat in a cast-iron skillet, then sprinkle in three tablespoons of salt. Hold a paper towel with tongs to scour clean; rinse with water and coat with vegetable oil to cure.
❦vinegar
You can get rid of calcium deposits from faucets by using a cloth soaked in vinegar, wrap tightly. Let sit fir a few hours or overnight. Rinse and dry with soft cloth.
❦coffee filters
For cleaning, use coffee filters with your favorite glass cleaner on windows and mirrors for a sparkling shine.
❦ dryer sheets
In the bathroom you can use a wet dryer sheet to remove soap scum.  Use it like a sponge to speed up cleaning.  They can also save time in the kitchen with the anti-static properties the weaken the bond between burnt or baked on food and cookware. Just submerge one in a dirty pan filled with warm water and let stand for 30 minutes or overnight to reduce the need for heavy scrubbing. ❦ pillowcases
Before you toss a pillowcase in the wash, use one to make cleaning ceiling fans mess-free. Slip a pillowcase over the panels and lightly close the open end around the panel to make sure you clean the top and bottom in one swipe.  Then pull the pillowcase toward the end of the panel.  When you have finished, take the pillowcase outside, tun wrong side out to shake away the dust.

2 Small zucchini 2 Small yellow squash 1/3 Cup fresh mint leaves 3 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 1 Tablespoon of fresh lemon juice 1/4 Teaspoon sea salt Sprinkle pepper to taste 1/4 Cup toasted pine nuts
 First you should thinly slice or shave, if you like, the zucchini and yellow squash. You can easily do this with a mandolin or with a peeler to get it very thin. Place the vegetables in a bowl.
Next you will want to cut the mint leaves into strips by rolling them together, then slicing them into strips. Then add the mint into the bowl with the squash. In a separate bowl, whisk the oil and lemon juice together and then add the salt and pepper as you continue whisking the mixture. Drizzle this dressing over the vegetables in the bowl.  Add the toasted pine nuts and then toss together. Allow the mixture to stand for about 10 to 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend together. Welcome to your 30-day Fitness Challenge! 
Starting on May 20th – June 20th, we’ll take each day as a step in learning how to focus on daily healthy choices. By focusing on what you’re doing today…right now…you may just learn to enjoy the process of healthy living. Just a note: Each challenge is designed to be implemented without too much effort, but some challenges may not work for you. Some alternatives will occasionally be provided for you but, if something doesn’t work for you, please choose your own challenges to accomplish. If you’re following your own workout program, feel free to substitute any workouts with your own or modify the workouts provided to fit your needs and fitness level.
THE DETAILS!  The challenge is 30 days…each day we email participants their challenges for the day. People can do them or not or even take longer then 30 days to do them.They are meant to be small steps toward ahealthier lifestyle. 5 areas each day: Active, Cardio, Strength, Flexibility, Nutrition and Mind. For example one “active” challenge isto walk an additional flight of stairs that you normally wouldn’t do. Another day the “nutrition” challenge is to get at least 5 servings of vegetables that day.Main thing is to become aware of small changes…the whole thing is that we can’t just change everything overnight. It won’t “stick”.
QUESTIONS:
 Do I need to be physically fit in order to participate?: No! That’s the great thing about this. It’s about becoming healthier no matter your fitness level. This is NOT about difficult exercises..it’s about simple LIFESTYLE challenges for anyone. Why do I have to Pay to Enter? This is more then a giveaway of AWESOME prizes…it’s 30 days of Fitness/Health Coaching from our staff of great fitness & nutrition professionals. Before the challenge starts our staff will email you questions about your goals and help you one-on-one with fitness, workout, and nutrition questions. How much would you pay for a personal trainer, workout instructor, nurse and a dietitian for a month of unlimited access to questions, and goal planning? If you don’t have any questions? That’s ok too. We won’t bore you with goal setting or nutrition advice. You can also do the daily challenges, and win prizes! We’re fine with that. We’re also here for you if at any time in those 30 days you do have a question.
